Sixty-seven William Adams High School Class of 1958 graduates and friends celebrated 55 years of being high school graduates on April 12 to 14. Three fun-filled days of memories, dedications, and reconnections bonded the graduates once more in their theme, "Where Friends We Met DID Not Forget."
Friday night's activities featured greetings, delectable food, and excellent relationships through dyadic and small group interactions at Alice Country Club, where all meals and social activities were held. On Saturday afternoon, reunioners dedicated a memorial marker to 46 departed class graduates and 11 former classmates on the grounds of the previous site of William Adams High School (now William Adams Middle School). Each departed person's name was read and chimed as classmates and families recalled the person's contribution and life. Two class graduates attending the ceremony- - Nancy Adams Cramer and Ann McGill Erck - are granddaughters of William Adams, for whom the schools are named.
Social festivities resumed on Saturday evening at Alice Country Club with a palatable buffet and dancing, chorusing, and listening to 1950s hits provided by Karaoke Bill (Dammann) of Rockport, Texas. Many were reminded of Golfer Lee Trevino's' comment: "The older I get, the greater I used to be."
Sunday's noon buffet commenced the weekend nostalgia but left most wanting an afternoon nap rather than a return excursion to their homes.
The Class of 1958 appreciates the wonderful support and work of the following people and groups in the Alice professional community for making the occasion of its 55th reunion such a memorable and significant event - Mr. Terry Kreider, General Manager, and Mr. Simon Padron, Catering Manger, Alice Country Club; Dr. Juan Sandoval, Director of Operations, Alice Independent School District; Mrs. Katie Patterson, Rockport Memorial; Mr. Bill (Karaoke Bill) Dammann, Rockport, Texas; Mr. Juan Navejar, Executive Vice President, Alice Chamber of Commerce; and Hampton Inn, Alice, Texas.
