Juan Ricardo (Ricky) Godines
On the evening of June 22, 2014, Juan Ricardo (Ricky) Godines passed away after an 8-month battle with cancer. Ricky passed away at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas. He was 37 years old.
Ricky Godines was born in Alice, Texas, on December 9, 1976. He was the eldest child, and the first son, of Juan G and Maria T Godines.
Ricky graduated from Alice High School in 1995 and was an astute fighting Coyote of the football team. He was named offensive player of the year several times during his high school years.
He had a true love, passion, and competitiveness for all sports. Ricky's favorite sports were football and basketball. He was true blue Dallas Cowboys fan and also loved the San Antonio Spurs.
Ricky Godines was a hardworking young man and had been servicing the oilfield industry for nearly 20 years. His latest employment was held with Patterson Rental Tools, where he was a field service supervisor for the last seven years in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Ricky Godines wed Marivel Olvera in 1997 in Alice, Texas. They were blessed with four children. Ricky was a wonderful father and husband and loved his family dearly. They were the single most important thing in his life and will be forever.
Ricky Godines is survived by wife, Marivel Godines; children, Luis R. (Rick) Bernal, Jesus R. (JR) Bernal, Leeana N. Godines, and Juan R. (John) Godines Jr.; father, Juan Godines; mother, Maria T. Godines; brother, Joe Godines (Chelsey); and sister, Eliza Godines (Adrian).
Visitation will begin Friday, June 27, 2014, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Rosas Funeral Home with a Rosary being recited at 7pm that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Church on Saturday June 28, 2014. Burial will follow at the Alice Cemetery in Alice, Texas.
The family would like to thanks everyone who has shown their condolences and have given endless support throughout this process. Specifically, the family would like to thank MD Anderson medical staff who cared for Ricky during the course of his treatment. Additionally, the family would like to send special thanks to Patterson Rental Tool Company.
