Ida G. Garcia
Ida G. Garcia passed away on June 24, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, with all her family by her side, after a short illness.
She was born on December 14, 1929 to Serafin and Angela Guevara. She was a lifelong member and devoted catholic of St. Peters Church in Ben Bolt. She was also an honorary Pioneer member of St. Peters Church.
Ida lived in the Ben Bolt community for 64 years after marrying the love of her life, Gustavo, where they raised four children. She made her mark in the workforce when she went to work for Hagger Slacks in Robstown Tx.
She later went to work in the retail business for Bealls Dept. Store where she retire after 25 years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. In her pass time she liked visiting with friends at the senior center and playing bingo!
But her favorite thing to do was to make quick trips to Alice for a delicious Whataburger! Ida also loved attending any and all family or friend's functions, which allowed her to reminisce with family and friends. Ida will be missed by her family, friends and her community.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Serafin Guevara and Angela Flores Guevara; er husband, Gustavo Garcia Sr.; two brothers, Serafin Guevara, and Gabriel Guevara; and two sisters, Angela(Lita) Harville and Delia Mathis.
Survivors include two sons, Gustavo (Gus) Garcia of San Antonio and Blas Eli Garcia of Ben Bolt; two daughters, Ida Yvonne (Bonnie) Antonio Cuevas, and Priscilla (Jose O.) Garcia from San Antonio; one brother, Eloy Guevara, of Big Timber, Montana; two sisters, Elda Rodriguez, and Emma Rea both of Corpus Christi; and one sister in law, Carolyn Guevara from Canton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will begin Sunday, June 29, 2014, from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at St Peters Catholic Church in Ben Bolt, Texas. Burial will follow at the Calaveras Cemetery in Ben Bolt.
