ALICE, Texas - Servando G. Canales Jr., 67, passed away May 28, 2014, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born September 12, 1946, to Servando Canales Jr. and Eva Garcia Canales. Servando was a United States Army Vietnam Veteran. He was the past Post Commander and District Commander in the VFW and a member of the United Veteran's Burial Association. Servando coached Little League baseball for over 25 years. He enjoyed barbecuing and spending time with his family, especially his pet companion dog, Lady.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Servando Canales Sr. and Eva Canales; one brother, Celestino Canales; and one granddaughter, Erika Ramos.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Micaela Canales of Alice, Texas; one son, Servando (Marissa) Canales III of Alice, Texas; two daughters, Clarita (Roy) Trevino of Laredo, Texas, and Becky (Randy) Ramos of Alice, Texas; one stepson, David Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; two stepdaughters, Gloria Gonzalez and Marisela Guerrero, both of Alice, Texas; six grandchildren; Randy Ramos Jr., Clarissa Ramos, Adriano Ramos, Nadia Trevino, Marlina Canales and Trey Canales; four step-grandchildren, AleSandra Zarate, Christian Zarate, Andrea Gonzalez and Alyana Guerreo; one great-grandchild, Elijah Ramos; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will continue at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Rosas Funeral Home Chapel followed by a funeral Mass at 2:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Roberson Collins Cemetery with military honors conducted by The United Veterans Burial Association.
