David R. Olvera

David R. Olvera, 54, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, with his loving family by his side.

He was born May 19, 1958 in Alice, Texas to Luis D. Olvera and Susana R. Olvera. David was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where he served as an usher.

He was a graduate of Alice High School in 1976 where he excelled in golf his junior and senior years receiving several trophies when he played. He was also most valuable player in his school. He worked for several electric companies including Olvera Electric, Foster Electric, Cogema, Willie Moore Electric, Mestenia and others until 2007, when he became the owner of Double "O" Electric and until God called him home.

David was known by many people. He was a giver to everybody when he could. He loved golfing, barbecuing, where he made his delicious ribs and fajitas. He will be greatly missed by everyone that knew him especially his loving family.

He was preceded in death by his only son, Marco Antonio Olvera; and one nephew, Jesse Carillo, Jr.

He is survived by his parents, Luis D. and Susana R. Olvera of Alice, Texas; one granddaughter, Ayla N. Olvera, his sister, Linda (Jesse) Carrillo of Alice, Texas; his brother, Luis R. (Belinda) Olvera of Alice, Texas, nephews and nieces, Danny (Sally) Carrillo of Alice, Texas, Gabriel (Roxie) Carrillo of San Antonio, Texas, Jason (Connie) Carrillo of Alice, Texas; Gabriela Olvera of Alice, Texas, Alexia Olvera of Alice, Texas, Maribel (Rick) Godines of Wyoming, and Veronica Olvera of College Station, Texas; and his pet companion, Lizzie.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas with a Rosary being recited at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Alice, Texas. Burial will follow at the New Collins Cemetery in Alice, Texas.

I met David when i started employment as electrical inspector for the City of Alice, David and his brother Luis have been a asset to the City of Alice with their expertise in the electrical construction business. David will be missed by me and many people who knew him.
