Urbano Gonzalez Sr., 96, of Alice, Texas passed away February 9, 2013.
He was born September 2, 1916 in Yorktown, Texas to Narciso Gonzalez and Manuela Cavazos Gonzalez.
Urbano worked at Alice Cotton Oil Company and at Alice Used Cars as a detailer. He was also a farmer. He enjoyed listening to music and watching his favorite baseball team, the Houston Astros.
Urbano was preceded in death by his parents, Narciso and Manuela Gonzalez; four sisters, Tomasa Garcia, Maria Rodriguez, Felipa Guzman, and Francisca Alaniz; seven brothers, Bartolo Gonzalez, Jose Gonzalez, Ignacio Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez, Cipriano Gonzalez, Narciso Gonzalez, and Guadalupe Gonzalez; two daughters, Dominga Rosales and Carmelita Gonzalez; one grandson, Michael Gonzalez and two sons-in-law, Fernando Gonzalez Sr. and Larry Moreno Sr.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Adelaida Gonzalez of Alice, Texas; and children, Ramon (Lydia) Gonzalez of Alice, Texas, Juan (Rosita) Gonzalez of Alice, Texas, Urbano (Rosa) Gonzalez Jr. of Alice, Texas, Ruben (Lupita) Gonzales of Dallas, Texas, David (JoAnn) Gonzalez of Victoria, Texas, Irma Moreno of Alice, Texas, Ester (Refugio) Gonzalez Jr. of Alice, Texas, Norma Gonzalez of Stafford, Texas, Manuela Gonzalez of Alice, Texas, Sulema (Mark) Miranda of Houston, Texas, Rosie Gonzalez of Houston, Texas and Juan Carlos Gonzalez of Alice, Texas. Other survivors include 29 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2013, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Rosas Funeral Home Chapel in Alice, Texas with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 p.m. that evening. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 701 Hickey, Alice, Texas. Burial will follow at the Roberson Collins Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Servando Canalez III, Robert Moreno, Ramon Gonzalez Jr., Johnny Gonzalez Jr., Ricky Gonzalez, Refugio Gonzalez III, Rolando Gonzalez, and Marcos Miranda Jr.
