Loann Carey, 18, the daughter of Elizabeth Carey and Juan Gonzalez, said "I plan on attending the University of Texas at El Paso or Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. I haven't decided. But I plan on majoring in psychology and minoring in music education."
She is the vice president of BPA, and is a member of the Student Council, Environmental Club, Girls Varsity Basketball, FCA, Honors Band, Jazz Band, and this year she was inducted into the National Honor Society.
She numbers among her accomplishments and honors receiving a "one" in solo and ensemble freshman year, being part of the State Marching Band her freshman and junior year, State BPA in her junior year, State Alternate BPA during her senior year, and District/ Region Participate senior year.
What is the best advice you ever received? Who gave you the advice?
"First, it's okay to be sad. It's okay to feel things. Remember that. Second, be a kid for as long as you can. Play games, and be silly. Even when you grow up and move away, it's important to come home." This is advice no one gave to me. I actually read it from "Walking Disaster" by Jamie McGuire. I think it's something every young teen should hear.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In five years I see myself completing college and setting out on my own. I cannot tell you where, because you never know where life will take you. I hope the plans I have now to be a children's therapist follow through.
If you could change anything about the world, what would it be and why?
I would change the weather, so that every person with allergies and asthma would not have it as much.
If you could invite three people to dinner, who would they be and why?
I would invite Michael Jackson first. I would tell him to teach me how to moonwalk and ask him about his point of view on his whole music career. I would also invite Christopher Pike because he is one of my favorite authors of all time. I would ask him how he gets his ideas and what he thinks of his own books. And last I would invite Jennifer Lawrence, because I think she's an amazing actress and her interviews are always fun to watch, so I would just want to talk to her to see if she is the same as she seems in her interviews.
