Soto arrested after leaving child locked in a car
A woman was jailed for child endangerment after she allegedly locked her child in a parked car at Walmart for more than 20 minutes.
Police were called to the store at about 8 p.m. Saturday in reference to a child locked in a vehicle. When officer Roel Escamilla arrived, the mother, Monica Ayisa Soto, had opened the car and the child appeared to be OK. She told officer Escamilla she had been in the store for only a few minutes.
A witness told police the child had been in the car for at least 15 minutes. Store security had been informed of the child locked in the car and made the call to police. Store surveillance showed Soto in the store for about 22 minutes. She was placed under arrest for child endangerment and Child Protective Services was called. The child was released to Soto's mother.
Soto was transported to the county jail.
